| Advanced File Organizer: User Guide |
You can export all information from the catalog to other formats using Export Wizard (select Tools | Export Wizard from the main menu).
To export information from the catalog you need to define three main points:
You can export:
![]() |
Note
If you want to export category tree to use it in other catalogs, select File | Export Category Tree. In this case Advanced File Organizer saves Category Tree in a special format (*.cat), which can be imported from other catalogs. Export Wizard helps you to save information from the catalog to use it outside Advanced File Organizer.
You can select the following fields:
![]() |
Among them you can define the fields to sort by and sort order (ascending or descending). Also it is possible to group items from the catalog (files, folders and disks) by their location.
If the option Export files is set, information about every file will be added to export file. You need to unset this option to exclude files. Similarly you can include or exclude information about folders by setting/unsetting Export folders option.
If you select Sizes in compact format, all sizes will be converted in compact format (bytes, Megabytes or Gigabytes depending on the size). Else all sizes will be in bytes.
Using the option Include summary into the report means adding brief information about the report content.
Lastly, you can limit the folders depth if your file structure has a lot of levels.
You can select one of the following formats of export file:
The option Insert hyperlinks to folders can be used for quick browsing export result. If this option is selected, the disk or folder content will include the hyperlinks on subfolders content.
The option Word wrap means that large strings will be displayed in several lines.
Use Split file if result is large option to divide large export file into several parts
Use Column Separator field to define the symbol(s) which will be used to separate the columns.
![]() |
Also you define the destination file and open this file when done or not.
Note
Advanced File Organizer uses format of Microsoft Excel 4.0 where the limit on string number is 16,384. So, if the export data contains more items, you will see only the first 16,384.
